Day 104 - 14th April 2013 - Birds, Pussy Willows and Foam

Sunday morning, a day to sleep in (6:45 am) and look at more wet weather. Temperature is +3.2, which is not right bad, doesn't sound like the sun is going to break away and warm us up much. So it will probably be more work around the house, some editing and short jaunts in the hood! Nothing like an exciting repeat of the day before. I guess as soon as I head back to regular work hours I need to  buy a new pair of sneakers, mine are about 4 years old and beginning to breakdown in the support by the feel of it. I've grown very partial to New Balance so am hoping I can find another pair I like.
Saturday was a drizzly, damp day. Made the trip to town for groceries, we by passed a road trip until next week, hoping for better weather. Always nice to go on excursions in sunshine or at the very least no rain.  So it was a day to get some things done around the house. Larry did work outside on his woodshed most of the day which meant Lexi was his assistant and not mine. Nothing terribly spectacular for photos around the hood either, although my feeders were busy.  I've noticed the last few days the Juncos and Song Sparrows are getting much more familiar and venturing up on the deck.
They are really pretty when the light hits their feathers but look rather demonic at the same time.
The Yellow Shafter Flicker is happy at the Suet. You can see the tell-tale yellow on his tail.
Blue Jay just hanging out on the Lilac Tree.
Pussy Willows look like they are soon coming to an end.
Lots of foam around the shore - looks like shaving lotion.
Not a great picture but the 2 pairs of Common Mergansers.
 Song Sparrow on the deck.
Did you notice I said "he" in the other photo, yes he has a prominent black mustache.
The Junco is up near the deck as well.

Need another coffee. Enjoy your day!

  1. I've never seen some of those birds before, sometimes I think we live in two different countries instead of a couple hours away in the same province! On another note, I saw Rose Marie Sutherland the other day and she mentioned you and your photos! And wondered if you'd been over lately and how the trees on the property were doing!
