Day 91 - 1st April 2014 - White-breasted Nuthatch, Ducks, Hawk and Woodpecker

Ice pellets/freezing rain this morning, temperature is 0. April Fools Day and month number 4 which actually means we are starting a new quarter of the year. Be extra careful driving this morning. Boy those 3 months went by quickly and can't say they were all that great either. Hopefully the next ones will improve. Seems to me it's been one of the hardest winters I can remember in a long time. On a better note - ducks are moving around the lake more - wish that last bit of ice in the coves would disappear.
That Sharp-shinned Hawk was chasing one of my Chickadees in the Honeysuckle Bush yesterday morning. I can't believe there would me much eating on a Chickadee and thank goodness he was too quick and the Sharpie left hungry. I know they have to eat but those little Chickies are just too cute for lunch. Tackled the Bowling Alley  and got that spring cleaned, made gingerbread whoppie pies and Lexi and I roamed the hood between rain. Didn't feel right great in the afternoon-evening. Hopefully it's not the dreaded flu bug that everyone has suffered from this winter.
Another day that was hard to get pics. White Breasted Nuthatch was just taking it easy in the feeder.
A little blurry but I like the way the colors pop through the trees.
You really have to look closely, never know where they are hiding.
Some where just hanging out along the edge of the ice.

The Sharp-shinned Hawk - landing in a few trees after losing the battle with the Chickadee, then he headed out.
 Female Hairy-Woodpecker.

Enjoy your day!

  1. I can picture you trying to save the little chickadee
    Glad he escaped lunch
The vehicle is covered and school.is cancelled which is probably a wise move. Have a good day.
