Day 342 - 8th December 2015 - Crows, Song Sparrow and Wind Turbines

A little frost on the deck this morning, stars are all out and looks like another nice day in the making. I'm going to spend most of the day  in the kitchen - hoping to finish up the Christmas baking today. Fudge (2 kinds), Cherry Balls and I'm not sure what else I'll accomplish. I'll look through by Christmas baking book and see what I've made in the past. There are always so tried and true recipes to do.
Well while the rest of Southwest Nova Scotia was chasing rare birds yesterday I was off Christmas shopping in Yarmouth. We did detour to Cape Sable Island in search for the Mountain Blue Birds but had no luck - they appeared later. Around noon in Pubnico, 2 American White Pelicans appeared. Now while I'm envious of my fellow birders I'm also very happy for those that were able to see and photograph these lovely birds. Tammy and I had a good day shopping and my list is complete except to pick up a few things in town. It was a fun day with so many laughs! On the way home we got detoured because of an accident (chemical spill on the main highway) and had to take the scenic route through Woods Harbour, Shag Harbour etc.
So this was my exotic bird of the day - Crow or Raven.

They were scavenging for breakfast.
This little Song Sparrow wouldn't come out.
Since we had to take the old road home along the shore, we had a good view of the sun setting over the Wind Turbines of Pubnico.

Enjoy your day!
