Day 231 - 18th August 2016 - Black & White Warbler, Magnolia and Common Yellowthroat

Day off - same old song - up too early. Guess I better get some stuff done  here and maybe a jaunt around the hood. Hopefully we'll get our reno supplies delivered today so won't get too far until I hear from Wilson's. Maybe Larry can get started while I'm working this weekend, looking forward to having a shower installed. The lunch box meals in the freezer are beginning to disappear so time to whip up a few more of those and get my stock built back up again.
So the day cleared off, reports say about 32 mm for here, not enough but every little bit helps. Had a little rant last night regarding the Department of Natural Resources lifting the ban on travel in the woods and fire bans. Unreal! Seriously there is no cure for stupid. Overall a good day at work, fairly busy but the humidity landed once again, by evening though the wind had hauled and was much better.
I thought this as Butter & Eggs, but I'm not sure. Grows wild and I see it every summer. So I've been corrected by a good friend - it's Jewelweed!

Enjoy your day!

  1. I've never heard of butter and eggs so of course I had to google it. The butter and eggs on google have a far different leaf so I checked yellow wildflowers from NS and couldn't find anything that looked like that one. From what I can see, it seems to look like a small orchid flower of some type. But then again, it would be butter and eggs. I don't know.. lol Thanks for sharing another wildflower with me. :) Don't forget, your fountain is still here.

  3. I believe the flower is Jewel Weed or Touch Me Not (an Impatiens). Hummingbirds love it.
