Day 230 - 18th August 2014 - Oystercatcher, Shorebirds and a Yellow-Crowned Night Heron

Here we are another weekend gone. Seriously, I need to go back to work on Mondays just to get a rest - our weekends have been so busy this summer. A scramble to get work done at home so we can run around.
Sunday was another great day. We headed to Barrington, met Lou- Anne then off to the Guzzle and Hawk Beach on Cape Sable Island early in hopes of catching the Avocet before the tide went out - no luck. Saw the Oystercatchers and got a photo even though they were still to far, I can now add them to my lifer list.  Then over to Daniel's Head to search for a Godwit but no luck there, however we found the Yellow-Crowned Night Heron - another lifer and great shots. He was happy to pose. The rain held off until we finished and headed for home. We decided to take the back Clyde Road. That meant stopping to visit along the drive, which was fine. I also purchased my blueberries for the winter - 5lb box from LorĂ©'s U-Pick. Beautiful big berries, won't take many to make a cup for cakes, etc. A quick visit at Barb and Darryl's then home in time to toss ribs in the oven for supper and Larry to spend some time in the woodpile.
Believe it or not there are those that would rather see scenery than birds. Looking off from the Hawk.
The Oystercatcher - the bigger bird in the centre. Next year I will definitely get a good photo.
Shorebirds on the move.

You can see Baccaro way in the background.
 Black-bellied Plover.
He'd had enough of crazy bird ladies.
 Immature Yellow-Crowned Night Heron.
He was very patient and posed for us.
Can you believe those long toes!

Enjoy your day!
