We had a quiet New Year's Day. Larry worked on his jig saw puzzle, puttered around and napped. I cleaned up some photos, went for a walk and read. It was a lovely day around the hood - not a peep, everyone was pretty well still asleep when I was out early. It snowed, well it was more like a blizzard at times and you could barely see out the window. Down to Mom and Dad's for dinner - another fabulous meal. Nothing terribly remarkable about the first day of the New Year.
It was a beautiful morning for walking - everything was so peaceful and calm.
All the grasses and weeds along the road are now wearing a snow coat.
My first bird of the New Year - Chickadee - they must spend the night in the swamp, there are always a number of them that seem to just wake up as I go by. A couple minutes later I spied the Bald Eagle overhead, but had no luck following him.
If you look closely through the snow flakes your will see a number of Goldfinches snuggled in the Honeysuckle bush.
They had all the feeders covered, as well as the bushes and a few on the ground.
Perhaps they are feeding heavy before the storm on the weekend.
Enjoy your day!
