Day 97 - 7th April 2015 - Redpolls, Chickadees and a Woodcock

Temperature is -1 and it's a mixed bag of weather out there this morning - snow mixed with freezing rain/ice pellets. Could be a nasty drive to work this morning - might be a good idea to leave a few minutes early and take your time if you are on the roads today. Today is going to be a repeat of yesterday - working on the book ( think I might start putting chapters together and laying it out) and Spring cleaning. Going to make a big pot of chili - comfort food for bad weather and leftovers for tomorrow.
Sun came out and more snow melted. I can actually see more grass, the top of the wood sheds and some of the kitchen garden beds. But by supper time it was snowing again. Not a lot but enough to say everything was white again. I got lots of things done yesterday - went through 3 chapters in the book and skipped exercise class to get another one done. Managed to get the Bowling Alley cleaned, cooked chicken for supper and Lexi and I roamed several times. A Woodcock showed up in the yard again around supper time. The feeders were really busy yesterday - about 80-100 Redpolls, Pine Siskins and Goldfinches, lots of Chickadees, 6 Juncos (I've only had 2 all winter), Mourning Doves (who appear to be in love), a pair of Song Sparrows singing their little hearts out, White-breasted Nuthatch, Blue Jays, 3 Grackles and a few Woodpeckers (Downy and Hairy). They hung around most of the day and even into the early evening. I'm surprised the Sharpie didn't appear.
Just a few of the Redpolls, Pine Siskins and Goldfinches.
Ah, come on Lady can't you find something better to do!
Downy Woodpecker in the Apple Tree.
The Chickadees and Song Sparrow like the Christmas Tree.
Another Redpoll.

They are pretty cute with that red cap.
Last evening's Woodcock. I hope he is finding something to eat. I've not tried to get close for better photos. I don't want to upset him, although he doesn't seem alarmed by the dogs barking and other noises around.

Enjoy your day!
