Day 94 - 4th April 2015 - Red Tail Hawk, Ring-billed Gull, Snowy Owl and a Horned Grebe

A mild morning, temperature is +2 and it has started raining. Looks like we might get rain most of the day. It's Saturday so we'll be off for groceries - hopefully early before the stores go crazy. Then maybe we better think about a little more of that Spring Cleaning, unless I can get distracted by something more interesting.
Friday turned out great, rain stopped just before noon so we headed off to Cape Sable Island. Just as we were turning into Barrington from the Highway I spied a Hawk at the top of a tree. A few loops around and I had a very far off shot but worth it. We continued on to CSI and stopped to have tea with Irene and catch up for a few minutes. Was hoping she might have a Cardinal in her yard but not to be. Over to the Guzzel, then Daniel's Head and back to North East Point. No sign of the Brant Geese or a Snowy Owl at those spots. I've been looking a little harder at the Gulls this winter and was rewarded with the addition of a Ring-billed Gull to my life list. On our way back we took the road to Port LaTour and found a Snowy Owl at Baccaro. The drive up through Reynoldscroft, Thomasville and Port Clyde was quiet. Soon we will find something in the ponds along the road. Stopped and had supper in Clyde River then homeward.
Red-tail Hawk, new to my lifer list.
A pair of Common Eiders in flight.
Horned Grebe - there were two of them.

Herring Gull.

Ring-billed Gull.
Ring-billed Gull.
The Loons are changing from their winter plumage.
Snowy Owl, resting. I wasn't about to disturb him.
Two pairs of Harlequin Ducks at Baccaro.

Canada Goose - he's lost his boots in the sand!

Enjoy your day!
