Day 105 - 15th April 2015 - Evening Grosbeak, Red-winged Blackbirds and Mallards

Temperature is 0, but promises to warm up once again and be another nice day. Stars are all out and I can hear an Owl hooting down the lake. I'm off to town  - wish I was going to be home, but things to do. And it's hair cut day - thank goodness. Beginning to look and feel way to bushy!
The morning looked so nice but the sky turned dark and grey by 10 o'clock. Lexi and I got in a good walk before the rain started. But before supper it had stopped and the skies had cleared once more and the sun reappeared. It was a day spent spring cleaning and cooking. The Bean Chilli soup was really good, enough for Wednesday night and I made soft pretzel sticks to go with it. Cathy stopped on her way home for coffee so I filled a bowl for her too. Larry had fire practice last evening and I just had a lazy few hours.
It's been a number of months since we've had an Evening Grosbeak visit. He didn't stay long.
Hopefully he'll return tomorrow with some friends.
Red-winged Blackbird hanging out with a Grackle.
A second Red-winged Blackbird showed up today. They are travelling with the Grackles and a few Starlings.
New visitors in the yard - a pair of Mallards - preening and playing in the puddles of the yard.
And they appear to have found a few things to eat.

Enjoy your day!
