Day 38 - 7th February 2012 - Dickens and Stuff

The temperature is not bad this morning at -2. Seems like it is suppose to warm up a bit to +3 today, but that depends on what the wind is doing whether it will feel like +. Still nothing to complain about since it is February.

I don't think I've got time to chase my dearly departed ancestor all around the internet today, there are other things that I need to accomplish this week. Sunday is our Valentine Dinner at our Hall, so I've got some phone calling to do, get workers and volunteers organized, grocery shopping on Friday for supplies, and then Sat & Sun we will spend most of those two days at the Hall. Hopefully we will get a good turnout, last years was delicious. I should spend part of a day at the Deeds & Probate Office to do some Water St. research as well as a few other things and I've got my last grant application to prepare this month, but would like to get rid of it this week if time allows. Next week I'm in Halifax 2 days - rah!rah!

Anyone know anything about the type of tile you should use for a counter top? We seem to be having different ideas, I thought Larry understood after 28 years, that I pick things out/do design work, he completes the project and all is happy in our household. Maybe on Wednesday I will find some time to look at tiles and get an idea, and perhaps it will inspire a color scheme as well. After  a short surf via google and pinterest I am more confident with my original colors.

Larry has spent the morning cutting out and replacing a few floor boards in front of the sink. It appears that there was a leak at one time, so........ back to sawing and cutting, including a slight cut to the palm of his hand which he assures me is fine with a piece of paper towel wrapped around it. I don't know why they every invented band aids! I've been busy plugging along with laundry and computer work.

Not sure if everyone knows but today is the 200th birthday of Charles Dickens. I wonder if someone will remember us in 200 years. I don't think you have to be notorious or famous for people that follow to know who we were, or at least I hope not.

Lexi and I took a quick roam around the neighbourhood, she gets tired of listening to the hammering and sawing. The lake is so loud now when it talks that you literally jump out of your skin.

Lots of natural debris on the ice, some on top, some frozen in place.

Something a little brighter on this grey day!

Enjoy the rest of the day!

  1. Don't be too hard on Larry he is afterall doing an amazing job!! Hope the cut wasn't too bad and that he is up to date on his tetanus????? I just got back from running a few errands and back at the list of stuff to do(I made the list at 5:00 am) not doing to bad at it several things crossed off. Iwould like to personally thank you for "MY personal blog which you realize I believe you started just to put me in a beeter mood each day!! Laugh is you like but you give me other things to focus on, weather history and even the occasional mundane things like house work. Today I learned of a friend "Stanley Greenwood" passing. I have known for over 30 years and considered him a true friend. Although sad of his passing and with tears running down my cheeks, I was smiling because I had the pleasure of knowing him. I was proud this morning to have seen young Bryden receive the Diamond Jubilee Medal and sad to hear of the abandoned cats(yet proud to see the community coming together to lend a helping hand). Life often throws us days where we are sad, happy and filled with pride. Today is one of those days that it is difficult to differentiate between all of the emotions. Let's suffice it to say...I am thankful and the photo of the buoys brought a smile to my face as well. I hope you are having a great day and thanks for making the rest of my day a little more bearable. LOL I am anxious to get a hint of the colours you have chosen. HMmmmmm I love reds...maybe as an accent!!! :)

  2. Larry is fine, I forgot that band aids are not manly, but a big wad of gauze, some antibiotic cream and tape looks much better! So he is doctored up. Often with sad news, comes glad news!
