Day 170 - 18th June 2013 - Birds, Lake, Poppies and A Red Building

Too early this morning. I didn't sleep well last night, it was too warm and I tossed and turned most of the night. I've also awaken with a scratchy throat this morning - joy, joy! It will be a long day. Oh well might as well just suck it up and move on. I'm home tonight so will probably have an early night. Am hoping no one wants to know anything important today. At least they are calling for a fine day and warm.
Well Monday sped by - thank goodness! Lots of help these days - our summer student began today and a new volunteer has joined us. She'll be popping in and out throughout the summer working on a project - so good to have such enthusiasm. Some days I feel a little run down and burned out, but that's just because the funding etc gets a little overwhelming sometimes. The world of non-profit and archives are a constant battle these days. Oh well I'm sure things will turn around at some point. It's a shame that the governments don't recognize the importance of these institutions. Enough of the minor rant! Truck went in the garage - nothing major at this point and we got the winter tires changed while they were at it. Probably by fall we will have to have the rotors and pads done - big bucks I'm sure. Cross that bridge when we come to it. So we were late getting home I had a headache all afternoon was going to skip exercise but Lois convinced me it would do me good. What a friend - HA!HA! Well it did help I think - although I know I'm going to be hurting.
I got a chuckle out of this fellow upside down in the bowl eating the cracked corn.
A few  water lilies are in the lake - lots of lily pads though.
There are always ducks at Myrna's in the morning.
Definitely a foggy morning on the lake.

A few leftovers from our weekend - I like this little red building for some reason.
A gull on the power pole early one morning.
A Common Yellow Warbler in the morning light.
Poppies are in bloom now - the red is beautiful, one of my favourite colors.

Enjoy your day!

  2. Love the phrase...slutwhollopper--hahaha..do you think we could trace that back in the regional history??
Thanks for letting me help out Kim! I visited with Amos Hagar yesterday afternoon and asked him if he knew what a pig or cow reever was. His response, "Why certainly, I was a cattle reever here once". New words...
Your blog is inspiring--always a goal of mine and maybe I'll get to it.
