Day 284 - 11th October 2015 American Pipit, Great Blue Heron and Northern Harrier

Pretty chilly out there this morning, might be the day for frost. I can hear the Owls hooting across the lake. Today is turkey day at Mom and Dad's - looking forward to a great meal with family. So that gives us a few hours we can go birding this morning, not sure where we should go.
We headed out early to Cape Sable Island in search of the Marbled Godwit. Sometimes birding is a waiting day, and some days you come away empty handed, today was one of those days. No Godwit after 6 hours of driving, sitting, searching and waiting. Oh well he continues to be on my bucket list. We did see American Pipits, lots of other shore birds (none close), Ipswich Sparrow, several Northern Harriers, a number of Great Blue Herons and lots of Gulls. All in all not a bad day! We made a stop in Barrington to see what was happening at the Lumbersjack Festival - looked like a great time. By then it was time to head for home.

Great Blue Heron.
It was a rough day on the water with lots of kelp on the shores.

Enjoy your day!
