Day 91 - 1st April 2018 - Sea Spray, Herring Gull and Harlequin Ducks

Happy Easter and good morning April! And of course it's April Fool's Day, so watch out you don't get pranked! Sounds of spring as dawn breaks through the treeline. The Geese are honking in front of a neighbour's house waiting for breakfast, Blue Jays are nattering in the trees and Crows call as they fly over. I've noticed the Crows are gathering nesting material these days as well. Saturday turned into a beautiful day except for our ever present wind. We drove down through Gunning Cove, Ingomar and along to Baccaro. The wharves were disappointing, didn't seem to matter where we were there weren't a lot of ducks around. Just too windy! A few Common Eiders, Mergansers, Buffleheads and Harlequins. No great shots of anything, although at Baccaro there was lots of wave and surf action. After a while we headed back to Shelburne, picked up some groceries and went home. A quick walk around the hood and a few things done around the house. The feeders were busy with the number of Purple Finches steadily increasing and the single Grackle who's been here all winter was joined by three more. Migration has started. Larry took advantage of the fine weather to block up more wood.

Enjoy your day!
