Day 183 - 12th August 2018 - Cormorant and Shore Birds

Another nice morning out there, it's great to have it cool off at night. Yesterday before lunch it had become quite warm again but not nearly as humid as it has been, hopefully that has passed. Looking at the weather sites, that doesn't' seem likely.  In the end we decided to head out to Cape Sable Island Saturday morning. Cape Days were going on which meant lots of people were being taken across from the Hawk to the Cape in boats, but that didn't interested me. I enjoy going over to the Cape but I was more interested in birding than a large group function. Looks like they all had a great day though, weather was perfect for their event. So we poked around CSI - the tide was high but we did find some of the "peeps" (small shorebirds) at Daniel's Head - Sanderlings, Least Sandpipers, Plovers, Semi-palmated Sandpipers. A few Warblers in another spot, Gulls, Great Blue Heron, so it was a nice morning. Picked up some groceries in Barrington and then headed homeward. We do try to get a little work done around home. Had a game of marbles last night where, Mary, Philip and I beat Larry, Alice and Margie! Rah!

Cormorant drying his wings.
Lots of little peeps - some were resting, some preening. A few were feeding.

And of course after a while they flew a little further up the beach.

Enjoy your day!
