Day 73 - 14th March 2018 - Mallard, Red Breasted Nuthatch and Chickadee

Still blowing but right now the rain and or snow seem to stop - it was a really wild day yesterday. Snow began about noon and came down hard and fast yesterday, by early evening it was going back and forth from wet snow to rain. Lots of power outages around, but we seem to hold our own except for flickering. The Power Crews will be busy the next few days putting everything back to rights again. I made a big pot of Italian Sausage Soup in the morning, should be good for several days and was very tasty. Took a chance and even managed to get biscuits done to go with it.  Birds were busy at the feeders, the large flock of Goldfinches were back with the lone Purple Finch. I watched them sitting in the old apple tree, the limbs swaying back and forth in the wind. Lots of Mourning Doves, a single Starling, pair of White Throated Sparrows, Chickadees, Woodpeckers and Nuthatches were in and out of the feeders all day.

Red Breasted Nuthatch
I think the Chickadee found a hidden stash.

Enjoy your day!
