Day 192 - 15th July 2017 - Yellow Rumped Warbler, Palm Warbler and Hermit Thrush

Friday turned out to be a nice day, humidity wasn't quite so high and not as hot as it was last year but still warm. Seem to be lots of people around the waterfront during the day, enjoying the music at Guild Hall and all the booths set up. Had a good walk through the hood yesterday morning with a few birds spotted. A lot of families around now - young ones with their parents, fun to watch the interactions. I did the grocery shopping on the way home - not sure if Friday night is better than Saturday morning but I whipped around and got it done. Friday night club last night - finished our game of Aggravation we started last week - lots of laughs and the vocabulary was definitely increased! HA!HA!

Day 191 - 14th July 2017 - Hermit Thursh, Robin and Roses

So that's the days off for this week, heading back in to work this morning. Been a great couple of days. Feels a little cooler - less humidity today, hope it stays that way and was better for sleeping last night.  A rain shower or two late yesterday afternoon, didn't really amount to much. The lake has started dropping, can see rocks I couldn't see a week ago. Cooked ribs early on Thursday and muffins before the heat hit, finished a few things around the house and then Margie and I did Friday on Thursday and went to lunch. A book launch last evening finished off the day.
The Hermit Thrush is always showing me what he's caught.

Another one perched down the road. Seems to be lots around.

The yard is busy with Robins
Roses are blooming along the roadside.

Day 190 - 13th July 2017 - Hermit Thrush, Yellow Rumped Warbler and Cobweb

Sure hope today is as good as yesterday was. Had a great day at home. Buzzed around early getting caught up on the housework, laundry and 2 weeks worth of lunches for Larry. Meatballs, Salmon cakes and Stir fried Chicken. Pasta, Quinoa and Rice and enough veggies to go with everything.  Of course all that cooking means doing dishes over and over!Got out for a roam in the hood, a couple of Swamp Sparrow families, Yellow Rumped Warblers, Grackles, Palm Warblers and Woodpeckers. Mid afternoon Lois and I hit the lake for a swim and of course another lesson for me on the paddle board (saving my nickles). Always the good stuff happens when I have no camera, we had company on our swim - a Grackle. What a show he put on for us. He splashed around, hopped and played in the water.

This is my resident Hermit Thursh (1 of 2 now) showing off his lunch.
 Lots of Yellow Rumped Warblers
There were lots of cobwebs around in the morning.

Day 189 - 12th July 2017 - Woodpecker, Palm Warbler and Chickadee

Foggy and dark this morning, should clear later. A little rain over night. Home today, looks like I need to buzz around get some housework done, then do some lunches ahead for Larry. Hopefully the weather will break and I can get out for a roam and maybe some swimming later today.  Nice to be home for a couple of days. Did the first of the walking tours yesterday afternoon, was fun to take visitors around telling them about the various buildings and streets, the history of our area. The Hermit Thrush continues to visit me every evening on the deck, flits around, stops and listens to me.

Woodpeckers are everywhere.
Came across a family of Palm Warblers, fun watching them.

And of course there are lots of Chickadees.

Day 188 - 11th July 2017- Waterfront, Harbour and Machine parts

Tired this morning, one of those mostly sleepless nights that my brain didn't want to stop racing. Will get my act together and progress through another day. A roam through the hood this morning to catch my ride will help. Always makes me feel better enjoying the beauty of the lake. Hoping to finish up one project at work today, really dislike things that drag on and on. However, in this case I always seems to be pulled in another direction and then the day is gone. Hermit Thrush continues to visit me every evening, he's getting friendlier, sometimes he even hops up on the deck or fence post. Catbird joined the Robins on the lawn last night, it's been a while since I've seen him.
The Dory Shop - one of our three museums o the waterfront.
No idea what these machine parts are, but I like the rusty look against the water.
Of course mornings are the nicest on the harbour - calm and peaceful.

Day 187 - 10th July 2017 - Northern Parulas, Reflections and Grasses

Sunday the fog lifted and turned out to be a very hot day, thankfully on the waterfront we get a good breeze usually by the afternoon.  A fair number of visitors around on the weekend, I was surprised, thought everyone would be tending the beaches. Song Sparrows are all singing this morning, daylight is filtering through the trees along the lake, another good day in the making. Promises for a busy week and upcoming weekend. It's the Founder's Day Festival - always lots of people around for that. Fingers crossed for fine weather.
I think we have a family of Northern Parulas in the yard these days.

Lovely calm morning on the lake, the old twisted tree reflects well in the water.
Grasses along the shore.

Day 186 - 9th July 2017 - Lake, Chickadee and Chestnut Sided Warbler

Foggy morning out there, suppose to lift this morning and turn out pretty good. Was surprised yesterday that the sun popped out and it turned out fine. Although the humidity hung in the air. A Hermit Thrush and a Palm Warbler are feeding in the grass along with several Robins, fun to watch them hop around picking out bugs. Late evening chasing the ace, but it lived so we will back at it again in two weeks time. It's a fun evening at Margie's.  Played Aggravation and ate Chocolate Lasagna. Needless to say I'm going to be dragging around today.

Beautiful morning on the lake

Chickadees are like acrobatics.
Chestnut Sided Warbler - not a great shot, but you can see the brown on his sides.

Enjoy your day!
