Day 162 - 11th June 2014 - Nest, Lupin and Lady Slippers

Wednesday and my day off. I  hear the birds singing again this morning - can almost forgot those long cold days of winter when it is silent at this time of the day and the darkness is still swept over us. The air feels fresher as well, although the temperature is still +10.4. Yesterday afternoon you could feel the humidity creeping in. So it will be a day creeping around the hood, doing a bit of housework and maybe enjoying some time on the deck for me.
Another good day at work and a decent meeting last night. Feeling a little more positive about the months to come, some new good people to help get things revitalized. Not for profit organizations have a hard go of it these days. We have aging and distant memberships, no government funding (except for a summer student) and any grants available are project based only. It's more and more difficult to keep things running and our Society is no exception. So it means extra fundraising, membership drive, research etc. to keep our doors open.  Hopefully the ferry running again from Portland to Yarmouth will also make a difference.  Onward and upward as they say.  A little bit of rain around supper time and evening but not much.  Sounds like more to come Friday and Saturday, as much as I dislike rain on the weekend we can use it.
Not sure if this is one from last year or a new nest. I didn't snoop too much.

The Lady Slippers are at their peak now.
Lily pads are beginning to appear in the lake.
This Lupin is sagging under the heat of the day.

Enjoy your day!
