Thought I'd check back in Grandmother's Journal this morning and see what was happening:
18th October 1972
Lovely day. Everyday is a fall day now. Had some company this morning, men who knew Bob. Had a late dinner went over to Ohio, drove Jim and Ivy almost over to Kempt looking for game. Saw 2 partridges. Got back had something to eat. Watched the World Series. Got home after 1 o'clock. Lovely hunting country not a sign of deer, moose or beer Not many around considering its the 1st week of hunting season Jim had a nasty cold. Red won over Oakland 1-0.
19th October 1972
1st SNOW
Cloudy or overcast. Started early to snow. Weather man said rain with snow and it snowed without rain all day. Miserable, must be 2 inches or more. Didn't do anything all day. Bob out and piled wood. Worked in work shop cleaned it up some. I've been tired from being out so late last night. Couldn't get out without overshoes on today so wet and snow. Game again to night late if we can get it on the radio Games was real good. Didn't go to bed until 12 or after. Oakland won.
20th October 1972
7" SNOW
This morning everything hanging. Stopped snowing before daylight. Beautiful late this afternoon and light as day outside tonight. To town early to wash and shop. Kim and Mike came back with us Sid gone to Gramma Holmes Talked to Annie Harris, she has sold her house just waiting for the money. She will start to build. Road was clear today. Both Kim and Mike to bed early. Also grandfather asleep on cot since 8 o'clock. Oakland lost today. Kim and Mike brought their toboggans to coast on hill.
So I'm glad we didn't have that weather this week.
I know everyone is tired by now of fall colors but I just have to add a few more - remember they'll be gone until next year.
Beaver Farm Lake on the other side of the road - since the leaves are dropping now, I can get close enough to look across.
Yes I'm a little later than normal, but managed to stay in bed until 5am! RAH! Enjoy your day.
