Day 182 - 30th June 2012 -Patridgeberry, Warblers and flowers

Thick fog this morning, with a temperature of +17.3. I see lots of cobwebs on the ground; a sure sign of a hot day, according to the old folks. I've slept in again, can't believe it, but I think finally I've caught up on my rest. This is definitely a good thing. Larry and Lexi are still sleeping, will leave them for a while before I wake them up and send them off so I can finish up some stuff around the house and make sandwiches.

Well we come to the end of another month, half way through the year. The first six months had a lot of downs, hoping for a lot of ups in this next stretch. Although, when looking at what some others suffer perhaps it hasn't been all that bad. We should be thankful for life, love and laughter!

Managed to get the house down to a dull roar and semi-presentable yesterday. I was still tired from the week of marathon editing so I just took it easy and worked, taking many short breaks. Ha!Ha!

Will try to get a better photo of these. They are partridgeberry. Seems to me the smaller the flowers are the more fragrant they are.
Am having a hard time with birds, oh well guess it will come with time and practice. This may a black and white warbler.
There is always a frog or two hanging around the lake.
One of my spring bulbs is in bloom.......but I've forgotten what it is!
I was delighted to spy these buds today, it's one of the explorer roses that I moved and thought I had killed a few months back. Now to just figure out which one it is!
My perfect model poses while I practice on some portrait shots!
Time to finish off my coffee and let the day begin. I see lots of Canada Day activities over the weekend planned in various parts of the county, perhaps we'll make it out so some of them tomorrow. Maybe we will just take our cameras and head some where.

Enjoy your day........and the long weekend!

Day 181 - 29th June 2012 - Clouds and Hummingbirds

Finally a very good night sleep. Went to bed early and slept in until after 5am! Feeling much more rested and ready to tackle another day. Looks like it will actually be a nice day, although that pesky weather station is giving thundershowers this afternoon - what's with that? My youngest nephew graduated from highschool last night, seems like only yesterday they were learning to walk. Larry still has two nephews left in the school system, although I did see a great prom photo of one of the boys last night. The years fly by.

Tomorrow afternoon we have all of Larry's family here, sad that the only time everyone gets together anymore is when there is a death and not a joyous occassion. His mom passed away last month and we are gathering on Saturday for the burial. It will be short and sweet which were her wishes. Last week when I was hunting on the desktop computer for Water St. photos I came across ones I had taken the last time all the boys where home together at her birthday six years ago. I printed off copies of one of the photos I had taken, with the five of them and her. Thought it would be a nice keepsake for them all.
The sun rises up above the very tall tree line in streams of color.
.
I always think it's kind of cool when you can see the shadow of the moon during daylight hours
Big fluffy clouds hung over the lake as I peeked through the trees.
I enjoy sitting on the window seat in the kitchen watching the hummingbirds at the feeder.
They always seem oblivious to the fact I am just on the other side of the window, a few feet away.
Well, it's Friday a long weekend on the horizon - a celebration for Canada's birthday! so now I'm caught up. The last few days of being too busy to post made me realize I really enjoy doing this everyday.
Enjoy your day!

Day 180 - 28th June 2012 - Rivers, Ocean Waves, Turkeys and Rainbows

Well I'm making a little headway. Looked like a bit of a sunrise this morning, but the neighbours were home so couldn't go in that directions. Besides I got up at 3am and started working. The good news is with the help of Colin and both of us working our fingers to the bone the book is ready to be handed over to our Printer, Ulrich, who is an absolute magician when it comes to this stuff. So it's out of my hair until at least next week. Then he'll have a couple of proof copies for me, and I'll be able to get the indexing done. Hopefully there won't be too many problems/mistakes or things I hate in the layout.
Since I"ve been really busy, I haven't had much chance to take much in the way of photos, however, Larry seems to have been taking a few so I'll share those this evening.
Larry and Lexi tend to roam around rivers where I always seem to be at the lake.

The river is looking really low, lots of rocks are showing.

He took some on his lunch break the other day down by the ocean. Love those waves crashing over rocks.
Remember those terrible road turkeys from this winter,well....... they have babies! There goes the neighbourhood!
And a rainbow to finish off the evening.
I am more or less caught up, don't look for anything too early tomorrow morning, I am planning on sleeping in a little bit, or at least for me. Still lots to do, just different things!
Hope you had a great day!

Day 179 - 27th June 2012 - Apples, Buoys and Flowers

So I'm playing catch up! Figured I better start where I left off and over the next couple of days we will be up to date again. Wednesday went by something like a blur. Started the day at 4:30am and finished at 9pm. And I almost forgot ....... the internet issues. Those seem to have cleared up. Rah! Guess I should call however, again, and have some money removed from my bill. Why should I pay for service I didn't receive?
I see the apples are forming on thetrees, can't believe they are this
big already!

Who says buoys have to be in the water?
I was peeking in the neighbour's yard again, nice little flowers.
A school of pollywogs or maybe minnows, I can't really tell. All I could see where some bigger ones and these darting under the water.
The lake rarely fails to give a good photo.

Well I hope you enjoyed Wednesday, if I remember correctly, the weather turned out pretty good.

27th June - 29th June

Well folks, just a quick note, I will catch up with you all on Friday, 29th. By then I should be able to post your missing days. Have had a book publishing deadling that I've been working on and issues with the wonderful world of highspeed internet. Hopefully Friday will improve on both counts!
Later!

Day 178 - 26th June 2012 -Flowers, Water and Bird Babies

It's raining, temperature is +17.9 so that probably means it's humid as well. I know we need the rain but wouldn't it be nice if it rained from 11pm to 5am and the days cleared off!  My internet is once again not working well, seems like it's just about as fast as the old dial up used to be, except I'm paying a lot more for it. Grrrr! Well, there is lots to be done, fingers crossed that we can do it.
Monday was a beautiful day, weather wise. I plunged in and worked on Water St. most of the day, along with help from Colin. It's going to be nip and tuck with my deadline. Still need some info from the Deeds Office and photos. For now I've been plunking my own photos in to hold spaces where I'm missing ones, just makes life that much easier in the long run. I have visions of getting up at 4am on Wednesday and finishing at 4am on Thursday morning. Maybe we'll be lucky and get quite a bit done today.
The hanging flowers in town are just beautiful now.

I hope people appreciate them. It's such a lovely welcoming touch.
I know, not another rose, but there are some really pretty ones on the water front.
The Dory shop on the right, sits next to the harbour, a perfect view today.
And our lake was perfect after supper.
One little baby.........
There are two little beaks now. I think they are starlings....not my favourite bird, but the seem to enjoy the power pole nest.

Time to get the coffee into me and spend a few more minutes on Water St. before heading to work this morning!
Enjoy your day!

Day 177 - 25th June 2012 - Roses, Roses and More Roses

Well it's rolled around to Monday once again and back to work.. Sun is beginning to rise, I see a hint of color through the trees and the temperature is +10.8. Back to my regular ride so I don't have to go quite so early, meaning I can accomplish a few things around here in the morning. It's not like I'll catch an extra hour of sleep. Main priority this week - get Water St. off my list and over to our Printer. He's a wonderful person and sooo easy to work with. He'll do it up into a proof copy for my final perusal. This would be a great thing to have done before the long weekend.

Yesterday was rather an uneventful day, Lexi and I at home. Thought about taking a nap, but resisted. I think it was the quietest birthday I have ever had, so that was kind of nice. Birthday's growing up were a big event in our house. Being born in the warm months I was pretty well guaranteed most years to have two parties - one with lots of school friends, usually outside with games, etc. and one with all the family. Warm and fuzzy memories of family and friends.

Some reeds along the waters edge.
My Loyalist Rose, this one looks pretty good, most of them were beaten by the rain.

The petals that fell.....

Old fashion roses which grow along the road in the country side or around the seaside.

Very old "Moss Rose" buds, rain droplets on everything and a few ants by the looks of it. Probably from the original owners of the house.
A few more buds from the Loyalist Rose.
I've had blogger problems this morning........ had to reload photos, they went, just disappeared so to speak. Ah well it's Monday what would you expect! HA!HA! The Explorer rose bushes that I moved several months ago are finally making a comeback and have new leaves coming everywhere. At one point I thought I had lost them, so hopefully they will soon bloom.
Larry and Lexi are up and mobile so guess I better put the coffee back on.
Enjoy your day!

Day 176 - 24th June 2012 - Squirrels, Spider Webs & Queen Anne's Lace.

Well it's Sunday and my birthday......not giving out any age. I had no internet since early last evening, so everything is running behind except the time I got up - 4:30am. I came up with an idea this morning while I was fuming about no internet; perhaps the reason I get up so early in the morning is because I was born early in the morning and it has stuck! Even as a child I got up at 6-6:30am. Think I was born around 5am. Anyway something to consider. I've managed some work on Water St. this morning, done chocolate dipped cherries for a friend and a load of laundry. Larry headed off to town for a Fire Dept. Course, so he's gone all day. The only things I have to do on my list is find photos for someone [which I've already torn apart 1/2 a room and can't find] and put the chicken in the oven for supper. Dessert is looked after - Mom brought me an ice cream cake yesterday.

Yesterday was wet and miserable, other than to go grocery shopping I didn't leave the house and had a relatively early night.
Saw this little fellow in the woods the other day, kind of difficult to focus in on such a quick, sassy guy, but didn't do too bad.
Spiders are like very fine weavers. Their webs always look so delicate.
The chairs on the beach looking welcoming, now that the weather has improved.

It's a cheerful looking cat, although perhaps a bit thin.
Queen Anne's Lace, even though it's usually referred to as a weed, still very pretty!
Sorry folks, short and sweet today, but think Lexi and I will head out through the woods before the weather turns bad again!
Enjoy your day!

Day 175 - 23rd June 2012 -Sunrises, Frogs and Snakes

It's Saturday, gray and dismal looking out, but no rain yet. Temperature is +15.6 and they are giving rain with thunder and lightning, sounds like a fun day. Not like I can't find things to do. Woke up at a more reasonable hour this morning, was surprised I lasted all day, yesterday.

Since yesterday was such an extra early morning for me, I headed down to the lake at 5:30am as the sun was rising. It was a beautiful morning and made me glad to be a morning person and live close to the water.

Managed to get the upstairs cleaned up, downstairs hallway and most of the living room, as well as catching up on laundry. Will finish up the rest on the weekend. Since Larry is going to be gone on Sunday to a Fire Dept. course I should even find time to work on Water Street. Am happier with my camera progress today, used the manual mode, getting use to working the shutter speed and aperture and focusing. It's all beginning to come together. Will need to pick up the speed a bit in order to capture birds, they are not as patient as Lexi and the frogs.
Beautiful shades of pink to start with, silhouettes of the boat and trees.
Gradually some yellow begins to appear mixed in with a bit of orange.
The colors change fairly quickly, sunrises are so much faster than sunsets.
Lois' Magnolia tree. The flowers are beautiful and have a wonderful sweet smell to them.
Most of the frogs were all laying out on rocks enjoying the noon time sun, a few were in the water.

I've discovered that frogs are a good subject to practice on!
So enough with the frogs, thanks for bearing with me but since I never see any ducks in the lake anymore, I have to find something with some color.
This was the last of the wildlife I saw, he's not really as big as he looks, just a good zoom lens!
Better get moving, finish my coffee and get some more work done around here.
Enjoy your day!
