Day 229 - 16th August 2013 - Sunlight, Warblers, Cat and Grandmother's Journal

It's Friday and another work week has sped by. I'm up an hour earlier than I should be, Lexi has been a nuisance half of the night and is now sleeping soundly of course. I'm assuming the deer have been in the yard again - probably finishing off my hostas or phlox! Oh well that's nature for you. I can feel the crispness of fall in the air these days. Not that I'm complaining as it's my favourite time of year but it seems early.
So Thursday was so much better than earlier in the week. Started the day off with my walk, the birds were just starting to flutter around, wish I could have stayed longer but off to work I went. It was a good day at the office too, researchers I've not seen for a while were in and I love catching up with them. They are such great people. A couple of meetings rounded off the morning and they even went well. The afternoon was a bit quieter, our computer guy was in to start getting things resorted for me. Exercise class - a good workout and getting back in the swing of things. Have a feeling I might feel a few aches in the next couple of days.
Grandmother's Journal:
17 & 18th August 1974 - River very low. Watered from river - garden and trees, etc. Few swallows left, a young bunch on back of house eaves. Lore's left on Saturday. Rained hard SUnday most of day, much needed. To town every day. Laing's up late in afternoon and evening.
19th August 1974 - To town early. Jimmie off to Saskatchewan today. No game - on the road [Red Sox's].
The morning sun shining through the trees along the neighbour's driveway.
You can usually find a few  mallards and black ducks along the shore early in the morning, like silhouettes in the morning light.

Thinking this is a juvenile Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle). The young birds confuse me to no end!
A Magnolia Warbler - new to me, I was so excited!

 Black and White Warbler
 Female Common Yellow-throated Warbler.
One of Myrna's cats, but no where near the Warblers.

Enjoy your day!
